Credit Business
Gulf Capital’s credit business offers innovative financing solutions to companies and private equity firms operating in the target region of the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.
The flagship Credit Opportunities Fund I is a forerunner in regional credit markets, and strengthens Gulf Capital’s position as an overall leader in the regional alternative investment management space.
Lending in the target region is characterized by short term, asset-based financing to large corporates and in support of key lender relationships. Gulf Capital realizes this market is inaccessible to many highly credit-worthy borrowers including medium-sized corporates and private equity sponsors. More sophisticated, credit-based lending is needed to meet those borrowers’ demands for capital. Gulf Capital’s credit business fills an important gap in the target region by providing flexible, credit-based financing solutions across a wide range of investment opportunities including acquisition finance, growth capital, and balance sheet recapitalization. Unlike traditional lenders, the credit business is able to provide financing on a cash-flow, rather than asset-based basis, and can include longer maturities, deferred repayment, and a mix of cash and non-cash interest as appropriate to suit the needs of the borrower.
The Credit Opportunities Fund I provides investors in the Fund with superior risk-adjusted returns combined with a significant current income component and downside protection. The best-in-class investment team is made up of managers who combine local market expertise with credit and investment experience honed at tier-one global financial institutions. The credit business is managed independently and at an arms-length basis from other Gulf Capital businesses, all of which benefit from strict Chinese Walls and other compliance policies. Gulf Capital believes their credit business, led by the Credit Opportunities Fund I, is well positioned to become the preferred provider of sophisticated credit-based financing solutions in the target region of the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey.
